Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

Success also indicates he has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to force a final set.

He rescued four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
