The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
